Card payments in the most remote of places

According to many industry experts, the so-called cashless society is not expected to arrive – but there are some fascinating instances of retailers and businesses using card terminals in the most unlikely of places.

Consumer card usage is undoubtedly growing and, for tourists, it is increasingly viewed as a particularly convenient way to pay for goods.

Global card provider MasterCard runs a cashless pioneers blog page to highlight some of these examples, and this week it focuses on how cashless payments are being used to good effect by a small fishing business on the coast of Venezuela.
