Retail change not just about emerging channels

In a retail world that is rapidly changing with new solutions and concepts, it can be easy to forget that the traditional elements of the industry are evolving too.

Chris Hughes, an independent consultant at Retail Automation Consultancy Ltd, says: “In these days when we see rapid changes and massive progress in the E-everything area it is easy to forget that over 80% of retail sales are not online.

“Traditional hardware and software systems continue to progress and become more integrated. Retailers still have to invest in and upgrade their customer-facing and control systems.”
