There is no hotter topic in retail today than beacons, according to Forrester analyst Adam Silverman.
Writing on the Forrester blog, he says that these devices have “transformed our retail imagination”, but he warns that it is still very early in the development of location-based marketing strategies that leverage beacon technology.
With some of the larger retail players using or experimenting with beacon technology, it looks like being an intriguing area of the retail technology industry to analyse over the coming months.
This year’s RBTE in London used technology vendor MyOxygen’s beacon technology to update visitors with messages during the course of the show.
